Christy is a Provisional Registered Social Worker currently completing her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work in 2024 and has been working in the helping professions since 2022. Her practice is informed by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives, allowing her to provide culturally responsive and inclusive care.

She has experience working in rehabilitation settings, where she has facilitated counselling interventions in both group and individual formats. Her group work has focused on trauma-informed care, psychoeducation related to substance use, coping and skill development, emotional support, and relapse prevention. In individual counselling, Christy utilizes evidence-based approaches to support clients in identifying underlying factors contributing to substance use, while also helping them clarify their values, strengths, and personal goals. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in respect, empathy, collaboration, and meaning-making. Christy values humanistic principles, emphasizing client autonomy and empowerment throughout the healing process. She integrates a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, while prioritizing the creation of a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their authentic selves and develop a deeper understanding of their emotional experiences.

Christy views individuals as deeply influenced by their relational and systemic contexts, recognizing that emotional and behavioural challenges are often interconnected.

Outside of her professional and academic work, Christy enjoys playing the drums, painting, practicing aerial silks, and unwinding with a good book and a cozy blanket.
